Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Moreau's 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru la Maltroie has a very sophisticated, mineral-driven bouquet with scents of yellow flower/persimmon evolving in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, and while there is some new oak to be subsumed, there is plenty of fruit stacked behind it to suggest this has the legs to run far. One to watch. This did not shine in barrel but seems to be coming good here.
