The outstanding 1995 Zinfandel Reserve George Hendry Vineyard exhibits a pure, mineral, currant, black-cherry-scented nose intermixed with a subtle dose of oak. Medium to full-bodied, deep, and leaning toward a more late harvest style given the high alcohol and slight touch of pruniness in the wine's flavors, this broad, expansively flavored, cleanly made Zinfandel should drink well for 5-6 years.
Dr. Rosenblum, one of California's most noteworthy practitioners of Zinfandel winemaking, has once again turned out a bevy of fine wines. There seems to be less difference between the individual Zinfandels than in recent years, but certainly the overall level of quality, with the exception of the Richard Sauret Vineyard offering, is reassuringly high.
