2007 The Mad Hatter Shiraz has a deep garnet-purple color and a very earthy, forest floor and loam scented nose with underlying notes of kirsch and creme de cassis, tobacco leaf and dusty earth. Medium to full bodied with plenty of ripe berry flavors in the mouth, it gives a good backbone of firm fine-grained tannins and a long finish with a little oak jutting out. Drinking now, it should cellar through 2017.
