The 2005 Chaos (50% Montepulciano, 50% Merlot) is elegant and refined in its layers of perfumed, vibrant dark red fruit. This harmonious wine needs another year or two in bottle for the oak to integrate, but it shows superb balance even at this early stage and has plenty of freshness to allow it to age gracefully for several years. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2017. Proprietor Antonio Terni bottled just a few of his wines in the tricky 2005 vintage.
