The 2015 Barbera d'Alba Superiore Funtanì opens to dark intensity with tarry smoky notes of graphite, scorched earth and campfire ash. It's all a bit too much for my palate, and I'm less enthusiastic about the loose, gritty texture you get on the finish. This wine is the proverbial too much of a good thing.
