The 2010 Chianti Classico is superb. Dark red cherries, mint, spices and licorice are some of the many notes that emerge from this beautifully delineated, energetic Chianti Classico. In the style of the year, the tannins are quite firm, yet also serve to give the wine much of its energy. I would not be surprised to see the 2010 age gracefully for many, many years. Best of all, it is a ridiculous value. The estate’s Chianti Classico is 90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Colorino, aged in a combination of barriques and tonneaux. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2025.
These are two utterly fabulous wines from Rocca di Castagnoli.
