A wine of staggering purity, unreal depth, and a finish that goes on for nearly 50 seconds, the 2007 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard was bottled unfined and unfiltered after 18 months of barrel aging. It exhibits an incredible perfume of fruitcake, road tar, spice box, blackberries, black raspberries, and hints of char, smoke, and graphite. Stunningly rich, with a floral/incense complexity that emerges with airing, this black/purple-colored wine tips the scales at 15.9% alcohol, but it reveals a seamlessness, phenomenal texture, and a multidimensional personality.
