The 2011 BRANCO, from Companhia das Lezirias, is an 80/20 blend of Fernao Pires and Arinto, fermented in tank. It seems to be a pretty nice deal for short term drinking. This blend has a certain solidity and big mouthfeel on opening (it comes in at 13%), but if that makes it seem relatively impressive for its price point, it is especially good fun because of a crisp, racy feel with herbaceous streaks. Invigorating, refreshing and sunny, yet with enough body to stand up to food, it should be a summer favorite, likely at peak this summer—and not likely to last long at peak.
