For the extra dollar or two, I would purchase the 1998 Costieres de Nimes Prestige. A blend of 85% Syrah, 5% Grenache, and 10% Mourvedre, aged in old wood and tank, this dark ruby/purple-colored, smoky, spicy effort displays dense blackberry and currant fruit, an excellent texture, vibrant acidity, and good length. It should drink well for 3-4 years. This wine is an excellent value.
