The 2010 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Cairanne Reserve RB is primarily Grenache blended with some Syrah, Mourvedre and Carignan. From a vintage that achieved greater ripeness, density and lower yields, this inky/purple-colored 2010 offers up notes of cassis, black currants, loamy soil, underbrush and forest floor. It is a perfumed, rich, medium to full-bodied, full-throttle, impressive wine to drink over the next 7-8 years. One of the finest estates in southern France is that of Bruno and Alain Boisson, the latter whom oversees the Cros de Romet property. Opaque ruby/purple-colored, the fabulous 2009 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Cairanne Reserve R B is a super, over-the-top effort in terms of richness, full-bodied power, purity and texture. Both intellectually and hedonistically satisfying, it exhibits classic Provencal herbs, fruits and spices in both the aromas and flavors. This fabulous wine should drink well for up to a decade. Not to be confused with the Domaine de Boissan, Domaine Boisson is owned by two brothers, Alain, who oversees the Cros de Romet property and Bruno, who is in charge of the Domaine Boisson cuvees.
