The 2007 Abat Domenech is made up of 50% Garnacha and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 12 months in French oak. An earthy minerality, licorice, chocolate, tapenade, and black cherry aromas inform this wine’s complex bouquet. Smooth-textured, plush, and succulent, this up-front Priorat is drinking well now but will continue to deliver pleasure for another 5-7 years. Importer: T. The Francesca Vicent Robert estate has been family owned since the 13th century. The 2004 Abat Domenech is 50% Garnacha and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon grown in slate and gravel soils. The wine was aged for 12 months in French oak. Saturated purple in color, the nose offers an array of elements including violets, mineral, spice box, vanilla, black cherry and black currants that is quite bewitching (beautiful perfume is a trademark of the top 2004 Priorats). On the palate the wine is full-bodied, opulent, and beautifully delineated. This winery performed well in the difficult 2002 vintage. The outstanding, dense ruby/purple-tinged 2002 Abat Domenech is a 50-50 blend of Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in slate and gravel soils. A floral-scented bouquet reveals notions of crushed rocks, acacia flowers, black raspberries, and currants.
