After tasting the incredibly oaky 2009 last year, I received a sample of the 2007 Durona, which I doubt is available in the market now, but anyway, it's a blend of Sumoll, Garnacha and Cari?ena grown on slate, clay and limestone soils; it fermented in open polyester vats with indigenous yeasts. It matured in contact with the fine lees in a mixture of new and used 300-liter French oak barrels for 14 months, followed by five months in oak vats. Unfortunately, this is as oaky as the other vintages, and if it's still like this after being in the bottle for so long, I fear the worst: the oak is going to remain while the wine is slowly fading. Time to drink up. 11,400 bottles were filled in May 2009.

The 2006 Durona, a blend of red indigenous grapes, Summoll, Garnacha and Carinena, is aged in oak barrels for one year, which marks the nose of the wine. It also displays abundant balsamic notes as well as aromas of ripe plums with rusticity from the Carinena and some meaty overtones. The palate is medium-bodied with evolved, ripe flavors and chalky, dusty tannins. A Mediterranean red for food. Drink now-2017. Heretat Mont-Rubi was created in 1984 in an old 19th century winery in the L’Avella estate in Penedes, a zone at 600 meters altitude surrounded by forests and Mediterranean pines. The 2005 Durona is a blend of Sumoll, Garnacha, Carinena, Syrah, and Merlot aged in barrel for 12 months. The Sumoll grape is indigenous to Penedes. The wine is dark ruby-colored with a fragrant nose of cedar, damp earth, and black fruits. Rustic but tasty on the palate, it should be drunk over the next five years. The 2004 Durona is composed of 30% Sumoll, 20% Garnacha, 20% Carinena, 20% Shiraz, and 10% Merlot. The wine was barrel-fermented and aged for 12 months in French oak. Deep crimson-colored, it presents a complex, earthy, spicy nose with notes of assorted blue and black fruits. Sweet, ripe, and flavorful, it reveals some elegance and very good length.
