The 1995s are made in a restrained, but classic style. All seemingly require aging, except for the delicious 1996 Zin Gris, a gorgeously ripe strawberry-scented and flavored, medium-bodied, dry rose that should be drunk over the next 4-5 months. It is sold only at the winery, but there are 200 cases for those lucky enough to have access to it.Readers who have followed the evolution of the Storybook Mountain Zinfandels must realize that these wines, which emanate from steep hillside vineyards north of Calistoga, are among the longest-lived Zinfandels produced.
