An altogether different animal, the 2006 Corelium is sourced from a single vineyard in the village of El Lloar with vines ranging in age from 70 to 100 years. A blend of 90% Carinena and 10% Garnacha, the wine spent 16 months in new 300 liter French oak. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up exotic aromas of cinnamon, anise, sandalwood, slate, underbrush, and black cherry. Complex and sexy on the palate, this large-scaled effort will evolve for 5-7 years and offer prime drinking from 2015 to 2030.
Terre de Verema is a new Priorat project with Ester Nin in charge of winemaking. Importer: Eric Solomon, European Cellars, Charlotte, NC; tel. (704) 358-1565
