The 2005 Mas Negre is 60% Carinena and 40% Garnacha from the village of El Molar in Priorat. It was aged for 12 months in French and American oak and bottled unfiltered. Purple-colored, it offers up an excellent nose of slate, mineral, black cherry, and blueberry compote. Firm, dense, and with excellent length, this is one of the finer values in Priorat on the market. Give it 2-4 years of additional cellaring and drink it through 2020.
