The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon “Bos” was barrel fermented and aged in a mix of American oak hogsheads and French barriques. Purple/black in color, the wine exhibits a fragrant bouquet of earth, cassis, black currants, and dark chocolate. This leads to a medium-bodied, elegant Cabernet with layered red and black fruit flavors, chocolate, and ripe tannins. Give it 2-3 years to fully blossom and drink it through 2023.
Reschke, whose first vintage in 1998 was well received in this journal, has emerged as the rising star of Coonawarra, a region in need of an infusion of new blood. The winery specializes in Cabernet Sauvignon but makes one white wine from the Limestone Coast.
