The 2010 Tenuta di Trinoro comes across as quite understated in this vintage. Dark cherries, plums, espresso and licorice are some of the nuances that take shape in the glass. Despite the mid-weight structure of the fruit, there is absolutely no sign of the 100% new oak barrels. It should drink well early. In 2010 the Tenuta is 70% Cabernet Franc and 30% Petit Verdot. The wine spent just five months in oak prior to being prepared for bottling. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020.
Vintage 2010 was not easy for Andrea Franchetti’s Tenuta di Trinoro. The cold weather was especially tough on the later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. When all was said and done, Franchetti left quite a bit of unripened fruit on the vine. The 2010s are pretty, medium-bodied wines that are best enjoyed sooner rather than later.
