The 2009 Pinot Noir Quailhurst Vineyard exhibits a more effusive bouquet of wood smoke, pencil lead, cinnamon, brown sugar, and assorted red and black fruits. It opens in the glass to reveal a smooth texture, succulent flavors, good depth and concentration, and moderate length. Give it 1-2 years and drink it through 2019.
Dobbes Family Estate was challenged by the 2009 vintage as 8 of their 10 entries could not be recommended. However, the two above wines are excellent (if over-priced for what they deliver).
