The 2001 Morellino di Scansano Poggio Valente, the single-vineyard selection, a dark ruby/garnet, expresses much raspberry fruit, tar, chocolate, and minerals in its ample and penetrating nose and a broad, supple, and substantial palate, plushy and polished in texture, sweet and lingering on the close. It will drink well for another decade.

Full of character, with aromas of slightly raisiny fruit and mineral plus hints of violet and red licorice. Full-bodied, with a solid core of fruit, fine tannins and a long, fruity, minerally finish. Drink now.
