With its super-ripe flavors and opulent personality, the 2003 Morellino di Scansano Riserva Poggio Valente is very representative of the vintage. Exotic nose, with raisins, vanilla, cardamom and a hint of kumquat. Full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a hint of chocolate coming through on the finish. Round and juicy. Sangiovese with a dash of Alicante. Best after 2005.
