The 1978 Clos de la Roche is from a vintage responsible for many stunning Burgundies (a recently tasted La Tache from the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti had a 100 point nose). Its earth, drying leaf, and sweet cedar-scented nose is medium-bodied, plump, and elegant. Creamy spices and dark fruits are found in this precise, refined wine. It is not expressive or lush, yet is defined and detailed. Drink it over the next 5 years.
