The 2019 Cornas les Barcillants is well made, but it's a bit ordinary. There's ample red and black fruit, modest concentration and decent length, but this medium to full-bodied wine doesn't particularly stand out in a vintage like this. It's still very good wine, just not up to the extremely high level of the competition.

Bright, juicy and fresh, with a core of raspberry, red currant and bitter cherry coulis notes still coiled up a bit, thanks to chalky minerality and an ample sprinkling of savory elements.
