Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, the 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes is showing a touch of reduction on the nose, but underneath lies crisp citrus fruit and fine mineralité interwoven with delicate, subtle white peach scents that surface with time. The palate is saline and fresh on the entry, very tensile with fine delineation, well-integrated oak and impressive depth on the brioche-tinged finish. This is an exceptionally fine contribution to the vintage from Coche-Bizouard.
