The 2009 Gigondas exhibits lots of roasted herb, ground pepper, spice box, incense, kirsch liqueur and black raspberry characteristics along with a pure, elegant, Burgundian-like delicacy. This impressive, medium to full-bodied, refreshing effort should drink well for a decade or more. This is a classic reference point estate for Gigondas, I have followed Domaine Raspail-Ay’s wines for over three decades. This traditionally made wine usually spends 16-20 months in old wood foudres, and is a blend of 80% Grenache and the rest Syrah and Mourvedre.Importer: Michael Corso Selections, Oak Park, IL; tel.
