The 2007 Barolo Cannubi shows wonderful delineation in its freshly cut flowers, mint, red cherries and spices. The silky tannins and nuance convey a striking impression of elegance, while the vintage has given the wine a fleshiness that is undeniably attractive. Floral notes reappear on the finish, adding lift and brightness. The wine closes up quite a bit in the glass. It is best left in the cellar for a few years. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027.
Michele Chiarlo is building a luxury hotel right in the middle of Cerequio. I haven’t seen the interiors yet, but I passed by the hotel several times on my way in and out of the vineyard in late August. The location is utterly breathtaking.
