I enjoyed three of four offerings from the Lange Winery. The only disappointment was the standard cuvee of 1991 Pinot Gris, a bland, one-dimensional wine with no character. Lange's most impressive wine is their 1990 Pinot Noir. At first I was worried the oak might be excessive, but with airing, some super-rich, jammy, black-cherry fruit takes over the wine's bouquet, with the oak taking a secondary, more subtle role. The wine displays excellent ripeness and richness, medium to full body, and moderate tannins. It offers a generous mouthful of well-structured Pinot Noir that can be drunk now or cellared for 5 or more years.
