The 2001 Finca l’Argata is an unfiltered blend of 40% Syrah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Carignan, and 15% Grenache aged in a combination of American and French oak. An excellent value, it reveals an inky/purple color as well as a powerful bouquet of blackberry and cassis liqueur intermixed with notions of licorice, pepper, and sweet vanillin saturated oak. Full-bodied, with plump, fleshy flavors, adequate acidity, and a sumptuous finish, it should drink well for 5-6 years.
