The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape (72% Grenache and the rest mostly Syrah with some Mourvedre, Cinsault, Counoise and Vaccarese) offers pleasant garrigue, peppery, black cherry and strawberry fruit and good freshness. While lighter than I remember last year, it is an attractive wine to drink over the next 4-5 years.
During the last year, proprietor Luc Perrin passed away from cancer at the young age of 45 years and his sister, Véronique, and other family members are carrying on the traditions at this estate. It was founded in 1969, and encompasses just over 42 acres.
