The 2001 Barolo Ravera has aged beautifully. Fissore says he doesn’t have too many bottles left, as he has gone through a fair amount himself. I can hardly blame him. The 2001 Ravera possesses gorgeous aromatics and beautifully delineated fruit, both supported by the nervous tannins that are the hallmark of Ravera. French oak has given the wine a layer of textural richness and breadth that is highly appealing. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021.
Unfortunately I was only able to taste one 2001 Barolo from proprietors Nadia Cogno and Walter Fissore.
