A white Rhone blend, the 2010 Le Bec Blanc is 55% Marsanne, 19% Roussanne, 16% Grenache Blanc and 10% Viognier. It comes across as big, rich and creamy, especially after the Sauvignon. Rich layers of tropical fruit supported by French oak build through to the finish. Stylistically, the Le Bec Blanc is in a totally different camp than the Sauvignon, but both wines are attractive. The 2009 Le Bec Blanc is a rich, burnished wine endowed with considerable richness and fatness in its fruit. It has just enough minerality to lend balance to its extroverted, opulent personality. The Bec Blanc is 46% Marsanne, 38% Roussanne and 16% Grenache Blanc. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014. This is a fabulous set of wines from Beckmen Vineyards. I was especially impressed with the reds. A big, full-bodied, extracted wine. Although it’s dry, it’s enormous in tangerines, lemons, peaches, yellow apricots and golden mangoes, finished with zesty spices. Lots of acidity, too, which makes it mouthwatering. Strikes an interesting pose midway between Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay.——S.H.(11/1/2011)—— 89

The 2005 Le Bec Blanc is a blend of 57% Roussanne, 30% Marsanne, and 13% white Grenache. A heck of a bargain, it shows the potential for these grape varietals in this cool area. Honeysuckle, orange rind, and lemon blossom-like notes along with copious fruit, excellent ripeness, and a medium-bodied, long finish suggest this beauty should be enjoyed over the next 1-2 years.Tel.
