Along the same lines quality wise, the 2011 Grenache Purisima Mountain Vineyard comes from a higher elevation block than the Block Eight. Offering up loads of juicy, vibrant fruit, crushed berries, bramble and sweet spice, this rounded, supple and beautifully fresh Grenache will drink nicely through 2019. Drink now-2019.
This was a great tasting with Steve Beckmen and assistant winemaker Michael Sigouin. These wines never lack for fruit or texture, yet show beautiful poise and length, especially in these cooler vintages. The side-by-side comparison between a number of 2010s and 2011s was incredibly educational, and, across the board, the 2010s were bigger, richer wines while the 2011s showed better purity, focus and detail. Both vintages are strong.
