The grapey and young 2016 GR-174 is mostly unoaked (only part of the wine is fermented or matured in used oak barrels). It's a fruit-driven blend of 29% Garnacha, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cari?ena, 16% Syrah, 8% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc (!). Light, fresh and easy to drink. 205,000 bottles produced.

Bright cherry and berry flavors mingle with vanilla and light herbal notes in this round red. Light tannins lend this a gentle grip, while citrusy acidity lends liveliness. The multi-grape red 2015 GR-174 is a blend of 35% Garnacha, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cari?ena, 13% Syrah, 9% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc from vineyards planted in 2000 and cropped from a warm and ripe vintage. It was partly aged in used French oak barrels. It's a fruit-driven, straightforward, light and easy red with little Priorat character. There are 185,000 bottles produced.

The difficulties in ripeness are noticeable in the 2013 GR-174. It shows some quite unusual herbal aromas, perhaps also because of the Bordeaux grapes in the blend of Garnatxa (34%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%), Syrah (12%), Cari?ena (12%), Merlot (12%) and Cabernet Franc (5%), especially because of the Cabernet Franc that is virtually nonexistent in Priorat. The wine has 15% alcohol, so it's not shy, but feels a little unusual for the zone and ends slightly sweet. I'm amazed to see they produced 194,797 bottles of this wine!

The 2012 GR-174, a blend of 30% Garnacha and equal parts of Carinena and Cabernet Sauvignon aged for five months in used French oak barrels. It is a fruit-driven wine, mixing red and black cherry aromas with faint spicy notes and aromas of licorice with a fresh palate with some fine-grained tannins. Drink now-2017. This Bellmunt del Priorat winery belongs to the Perelada group from Emporda producing reliable reds from Priorat.
