The 2004 Barolo Gallinotto reveals pretty, candied aromatics, perfumed fruit and sweet herbs. This medium-bodied, feminine Barolo also shows a slightly green quality but the wine’s greater concentration and depth of fruit helps to provide a measure of balance. The Gallinotto is made from a high-altitude plot in La Morra that historically has not been considered suitable for Nebbiolo. The 2004 also contains a portion of younger-vine fruit. It will be interesting to see what Molino comes up with from this site in future vintages. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2016.
