This 100% Sangiovese wine aged six months in French oak casks made a huge impression on me when I tasted the 1992, a difficult vintage in Tuscany. The 1993 is just as ravishing, but, sadly, famed Italian winemaker, Victorio Fiori, produced only 400 cases of this wine. In addition to possessing one of the most attractive labels I have seen, this opaque ruby/purple-colored wine offers lavish quantities of smoky, toasty oak and black-cherry/cassis fruit. Generous, rich, and full-bodied, with outstanding concentration and some tannin in the structured, long, glycerin-imbued, nicely-textured finish, this is a brilliantly made wine that should drink well for 10-12 years.
