The 1993 and 1994 red Coudoulets are both terrific efforts. The 1993 possesses more grip and structure (typical of the vintage), as well as a deep ruby/purple color, and a sweet nose of black fruits, tree bark, earth, pepper, and spices. Full-bodied, with outstanding concentration, this beautifully made Coudoulet could easily be mistaken for a top Beaucastel. Drink it over the next 10-12+ years. I have long been a Coudoulet fan and I still have a few bottles from the 1978 vintage, the first I purchased. I can say without hesitation that Coudoulet's 1993 and 1994 reds, and the 1994 white are the finest wines I have yet tasted from this estate. The Perrin family, proprietor of Chateau Beaucastel, produces these wines from a vineyard adjacent to the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Chester, VT; tel. (802) 875-2139
