Coudoulet remains best known for its red wine. It possesses a striking similarity to Beaucastel. The 1994 Cotes du Rhone is outstanding. It offers up a sweet, fragrant nose of new saddle leather, black-cherries, smoke, olives, and herbs. Lush, ripe, and full-bodied, with outstanding concentration, this velvety fruit bomb should drink well for 10-12+ years. The 1994 and 1995 are two of the finest examples of Coudoulet since the great 1989 and 1985.
This wine was tasted between June 1 and June 16, 1996.
Coudoulet de Beaucastel has always been one of the finest Cotes du Rhone wines, and the estate's producers, Francois and Jean-Pierre Perrin, have continued to up-grade the quality.
