Tasted at the La Romanée vertical at Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair. The 1974 La Romanée Grand Cru, under the Comte Liger-Belair label recorked in 1999, has a mature but clean appearance. The nose is clean but rather innocuous, clean but rather static in the glass. The palate is better than the nose suggests and superior to the 1975. There is more freshness and tension here. Yes, it is faded by time, but once can sense vestiges of energy here and to put it prosaically, enjoyment. Tasted June 2015.
