There are only 1,500-1,800 cases made of this very reliable, rich, full-bodied, chunky, fleshy wine that provides immense satisfaction rather than great finesse and complexity. The 1986, deep ruby/purple in color, has a plummy, licorice-scented bouquet, fat, fleshy flavors, and plenty of solid tannins in the finish. It is a sleeper of the vintage.
