This consistently attractive, plump, juicy, succulent wine is made in a very approachable style. Consequently, 1997 is an ideal vintage for this plump, precocious winemaking style. The deep ruby/purple-colored 1997 Hortevie offers gobs of juicy black currant fruit intertwined with herbs and earth. Lush, low acid flavors exhibit fine ripeness, as well as a layered feel on the palate. There is no aggressiveness, harshness or sharp edges to any component in the wine's pliant personality. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.(No tasting note was provided in Issue 128. We have instead included the text of the tasting note from Issue 116)
