Performing well, the deep opaque purple-colored 1996 offers sweet, ripe, jammy cassis and cherry fruit, and fleshy, full-bodied flavors with moderate tannin in the finish. The tannin is sweet, ripe, and mature, so this wine will not require an inordinate amount of patience. It is a potential sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2012.Proprietor Pradere makes fine wine from this estate, which consists essentially of old vine parcels that are vinified and aged separately from Pradere's other St.-Julien estate, Terrey-Gros-Cailloux.
