Undoubtedly a sleeper of the vintage, the 1993 Hortevie may turn out to be as good as its two successors. The wine reveals an excellent deep ruby color, Hortevie's tell-tale, sweet, tarry, jammy, blackcurrant aromas, and surprisingly soft, round flavors, with no hard tannin or herbaceousness - characteristics of the less successful 1993s. This low acid wine offers rich, delicious drinking now and over the next 5-7 years.
