The 2006 Barolo Vigna Gancia is one of the fresher wines in this lineup. High-toned aromatics lead to ripe red fruits, sweet tobacco and flowers as this elegant, finessed wine opens up in the glass. Medium in body, the Gancia offers notable persistence and an elegant, poised close, where pretty notes of licorice make a final appearance. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2021. Mauro Molino’s 2006 Barolos are among the most forward examples of the vintage, and are excellent choices for readers looking for wines to enjoy with a minimum of cellaring. Loaded with fresh oak tones (that will integrate as the wine evolves in time), this is a modern Barolo with good pulp and loads of aromatic intensity.
